Chapter Two
This week for my principles of social media class, we discussed the 9 steps of developing your personal brand when creating content on social media. In today's blog, we will focus on those 9 steps for the sole purpose of getting the idea for new content creators to get an idea of the steps they need to take to start up their own content to put out on social media.
The first step in developing your personal brand is to identify your audience. As a content creator, one of the important thoughts when creating content is who's the best fit for soaking up my content. If you make content for strictly sports, go after athletes, fans, coaches, and people who have a strong interest in sports. If you create content for fashion, then you should appeal to people who have a thing for fashion. Step two in developing your personal brand is to determine your vision and purpose. When creating your content, there has to be a purpose as to why you're making it and what is the vision you want to portray to your potential audience. For example, if you create a youtube channel that is for motivation, the purpose for the content should be to motivate people and the vision should be for everyone to gain knowledge from your motivation and help out the people who lack the motivation to get certain things done.
Step 3 of this process is to determine your value. Determining your value is a key asset when creating content because there has to be value to the content you create. The value in creating content is to be something that not only you have value, but also your audience has value in and gain that value from your content. Overall, there needs to be valuable content in order to gain a good audience and support to expand your brand to higher levels and elevate your content.
To sum it up, following the 9 steps of developing your personal brand will not only build a solid foundation but will also help you gain that level of a fanbase and will have your content ringing bells.
I thought it was very important how you touched on finding your target audiences and going after specific individuals that fit that persona. I liked how you mentioned different examples such as if you are making content about sports then go after athletes and coaches and then if you are talking about fashion go after people in those fields. I think this is a very important step and you have a great grasp on the idea of targeting those specific audiences.
