Homecoming 2021
This past week was homecoming and man was this a homecoming to remember! The school spirit for homecoming was amazing and a lot of the students were engaged throughout the entire week of homecoming.
Our football team brought home a big win on Saturday and ended the homecoming weekend the right way. The football team played Marietta at Dial Robison Stadium (which was home) and the game was a nail-bitter. Both ONU and Marietta played their butts off, but our team wanted the win more and came out on top 34-33. The game-winning catch by senior wide receiver Austin Eick won us the game on the last drive with one minute left in the fourth quarter. Throughout the entire game, it was a defensive battle between both teams. In the first half, ONU’s defense held the Pioneers under 50 rushing yards, making the Pioneers running back average 2 yards per carry. The running back for the Pioneers was an absolute workhorse, coming off a 200 rushing yard performance the week before, so our preparation for the running back was high. We knew coming into the game he would get at least twenty-five to thirty carries against us, so our practice prep involved stopping any inside run, simply because inside run was their bread and butter on offense. If we could stop the run game, their pass game was below average, and the Pioneers would be in big trouble offensively. The Pioneer's defense gave our offense a pretty hard time as well, the defensive front four put a lot of pressure on our senior Quarterback Brody Hahn. There were times in the game where the offense would get the ball after an ONU defensive stop, but they couldn’t put points on the board and had trouble getting an offensive drive going because of how good the Pioneer defense was. In the end, we as a team stuck together through the end and finished with the win.
While the weekend was filled with lots of festivities, ONU’s Volleyball team had a game that I attended and live-tweeted about on my Twitter page with the link down below, you should defiantly check out. Go Bears!

Trev! I am so upset that I wasn't able to attend the football game! You were definitely right when saying homecoming weekend was a weekend to remember. The way you described the game sounds as if it was the game of the season. I hope to watch a football game in the future since I haven't been all year! You guys having been dominating this year and I hope you keep at it! Good luck the rest of the season!
ReplyDeleteTrevon, I went to the homecoming football game but I was only able to stay until the third quarter because it started pouring. But that’s so incredible that you guys won the game by one point with only one minute left in the fourth quarter! I can’t wait for the next home game!
