Shoe Collection

This week, I’m taking a break from talking about football, despite the upsetting loss we took from Muskingum University. I want to talk about my favorite hobby, which is collecting Air Jordans. Ever since I was in middle school, I had a love and passion for sneakers, mostly Air Jordans. Overall, I have a total of 67 pairs of Air Jordans. I know it sounds like a lot of shoes but let me give you a history lesson on how I started my collection.

When I was in the 6th grade, I always begged my mom for a pair of Air Jordans, unfortunately, my mom couldn’t afford to buy me the shoes of my dreams. Since my mom couldn’t afford them, I would cut the front and backyards of my neighborhood to save up the money to purchase my dream shoe. In the summer of 2012, I was able to save enough money to buy my first ever pair of Air Jordans on my own. I bought the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Olympic”. I cherished those shoes like they were a brand-new Lamborghini. Back then if you wanted an exclusive pair of Air Jordans, you had to enter multiple raffles just to get a ticket that granted you access to have a guaranteed spot in line to get the shoe. With the help of advanced technology, there are now apps that make it easier to get a new release. After obtaining my first pair of Air Jordans, I started getting a bigger collection by camping out all night for new releases to drop, buying the shoe, and selling the shoe for double the price to make a profit to where I could buy my own pair. I did this all the way up until high school, my collection started with one pair then slowly started increasing. By the end of senior year of high school, I gathered up a total of 95 pair of Air Jordans. The collection shorten once I got to college because I sold about 30 pairs, solely because I had too many pairs. Collecting shoes is a beloved hobby of mine that I hope to continue doing as I grow older.

  1. Tre ! This story is crazy! I can't believe at one point in your life you had almost 100 pairs of Jordan's. I'm honestly a little jealous because I happen to love shoes myself. It's insane to me how you realized at such a young age that buying your own Jordan's was possible with the just a little work. I couldn't imagine the number of yards you had to cut but it was worth it in the long run. Having a hobby like this to tell people is not only inspiring but will stay with the rest of your life. I hope to hear more about your shoe collection in another blog!
