GO BEARS!
This past week, my football team played Denison Univerity. In 2019, Denison beat us by 30 points, so this past week was redemption and get back for the disappointing loss against them 2 years ago. Our practices were very intense and rowdy because we as a team had a chip on our shoulder and felt like we needed to prove ourselves to everyone in the conference that we are contenders for a deep playoff run. With a great week of practice, we definitely showed everyone that we're here to win a championship. The opening drive of the Denison game pretty much sealed the deal and made a statement.
Brody Haun, the starting quarterback, rushed for over 100 yards and had a dominant performance throwing the ball as well. Brock Martin, the starting running back, also rushed for 100 yards and a couple of touchdowns. The offense had an outstanding performance, going over 60% on 3rd down conversions and over 80% on 4th down conversions. The defense also had a dominating performance, holding the Denison offense under 100 yards rushing and 150 yards passing. I had a season-high of 10 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. My performance was very personal because I want to become an All-American in the conference and want people to know that I'm here to make history and be the best linebacker to ever come out of Ohio Northern University. I personally didn't know I had that many tackles until after the game when my coach texted me and told me about the performance.
I hold myself to high standards for the season this year and won't settle for anything less than being named an all-American linebacker in the OAC. My coach gets on me extra hard at practice because he as well has high expectations for this upcoming season and knows my capability of being a really good linebacker and leader for my team. The ultimate goal is to prove people wrong who doubted my talent as being an undersized linebacker and not making it to college playing the sport I love most. We have a game this Saturday against Muskingum University at Muskingum, hope you guys can watch it live stream. Go Bears!
