Game Week!
I want to take a break from the advice and let you guys know about how life is going for me so far. School is going nicely, even though we’re in our first week, it’s still going smoothly. My schedule works out well, I have three classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my easiest days, being that I only have one class on those days. Whenever I’m not tied with school, I’m super busy with football. I have daily meetings and practices with a little free time. The student-athlete life is difficult because you can do a lot of stuff regular students do, simply because your life is revolved around being a student-athlete. We as student-athletes make sacrifices because we sacrifice our college fun life to focusing on grades and football.
Our first football game is this week against Denison University. This game is super personal because, in the 2019 season, Denison beat us by almost 40 points. As a team, we take the loss as an embarrassing moment and need to make our presence felt this upcoming week. A personal goal for this goal is to lead the team in tackles and to have a great start to the season.
This season, I want to become an All-American in our conference. I know I can achieve this goal, but I know it’ll take lots of hard work and focus. I currently play outside linebacker, which is on the defensive side for the ones who don’t know football that much. In high school, I played every linebacker position, which is middle and outside linebacker. My style of play is compared to old school linebackers, the ones who were true run stoppers. I'm good in coverage too but I’m mostly a box player and love defending the run. One of my all-time favorite linebackers is Ray Lewis. I try to mimic my game just like him because I love the way he plays the game of football and how physical he was playing.
I hope you guys can tune in and support the Polar Bears as we take on Denison University for game one of the season opener.
